First, I would like to thank everyone for all of the feedback and support I received on my first intern blog. Based on that, I would like to reassure the audience that I will continue to pursue my love for marketing and not journalism, sorry.

Halfway Through My Internship

It is over halfway through my internship at DSG and the excitement to continue maximizing  my experience here intensifies. I am beyond grateful for what I have learned and accomplished so far, and I will not let any of the future unknowns discourage me. I will be using the first half of this internship as an excellent starting point and foundation to build upon, as I will be looking for ways to turn further challenges into opportunities.

Valuable Tasks and Lessons

As the final weeks of my internship approach, I can’t help but reflect on the incredible growth and invaluable lessons that have shaped me during this transformative experience. The tasks I have been assigned have challenged me to adapt and thrive in a fast-paced, productive environment.

One project that I am extremely excited to share involves helping the incredibly productive and perceptive SEM team. Rob, John, and Paige have allowed the interns to collaborate on  research and offer our input on a final proposal presentation deck.

As part of this project I was able to utilize various PPC and SEO intelligence solutions to  provide insights into key metric performance of the client’s current digital channels. It was quite eye-opening to see just how much competitive information is available. I am very pleased that our research has aided the team in finalizing a new hyperlocal service that we will be launching for this client.

On the operations side I was recently on boarded to a project management initiative that requires me to visualize the operations of DSG in order to help team members stay organized and attentive to due dates. Using project management software has shown me how crucial it is for a team to prioritize organization, communication, workflow and documentation. This knowledge can be applied in my everyday life as well as my professional development.

Another project that I find to be one of my favorites, is helping with the production and syndication of our company podcast. This allowed me to learn the benefits of using podcast content as a marketing vehicle for brand awareness, thought leadership, and showcasing success stories.

The list goes on of indispensable lessons and values I am uncovering while working with this incredible team.

Thriving Beyond Titles

On any given day, there are numerous lessons to learn from the DSG team. One piece of advice that stuck with me greatly was from Dean Hodges, Executive VP,  who told me that a position title does not mean much to him in terms of the entire company. I let this register in my mind, coming to realize that in this workspace, you are valued by your skills, contributions, and potential. This to me, is promoting a collaborative and inclusive work environment where employees feel empowered to share their ideas and take on responsibility beyond the scope of their designed roles.

I eagerly look forward to embracing new challenges, deepening my understanding of the industry, and contributing further to the growth of this exceptional company. Stay tuned for more exciting updates as I continue to explore, learn, and thrive in the vibrant world of DSG.
